We asked ChatGPT how vegetarianism can help in reducing global warming. This is the reply:
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions: Animal agriculture is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane and nitrous oxide. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas that is 25 times more effective at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. Nitrous oxide is also a potent greenhouse gas, with a global warming potential nearly 300 times that of carbon dioxide. By avoiding meat and dairy products, vegetarians can significantly reduce their carbon footprint.
2. Reduced land use and deforestation: Animal agriculture is responsible for a significant amount of deforestation and land use change, particularly in regions such as the Amazon rainforest. Deforestation not only destroys important ecosystems and wildlife habitats but also contributes to global warming by releasing carbon stored in trees into the atmosphere. By avoiding meat and dairy products, vegetarians can help reduce the demand for animal feed and grazing land, thereby reducing the pressure to clear forests for agriculture.
3. Reduced water usage: Animal agriculture is also a major consumer of water, with estimates suggesting that it takes up to 15,000 liters of water to produce just 1 kilogram of beef. By avoiding meat and dairy products, vegetarians can significantly reduce their water footprint.
4. Reduced use of fossil fuels: Animal agriculture also requires significant amounts of energy to produce and transport feed and to raise, slaughter, and transport animals. By avoiding meat and dairy products, vegetarians can reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.
Overall, vegetarianism can be an effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, land use, water usage, and fossil fuel consumption, all of which contribute to global warming.

We are at a pivotal moment in history: there has never a been better—or a more crucial—moment to make positive changes across the food producing sectors.

Change to vegetarian diet will have an immediate and big impact to this pivotal moment in history. Otherwise, there could be no more human history.

Climate change continues to influence Australian and global climate. Australia’s climate has warmed by around 1.47 °C over the period 1910–2020. There has also been a trend towards a greater proportion of rainfall from high intensity short duration rainfall events, especially across northern Australia.

Our planet is heating up. By replacing meat with vegetarian sources of protein, (nuts, seeds, beans and lentils, for example), we can reduce carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. The whole food production process of farm-to-plate totals 26% of all global greenhouse gas emissions. It is well within our capacity to make a difference, save the earth, save humanity.

The shift in climate is leading to more wildfires and will force France and the European Union to take “structural decisions … in the years to come”, French President Emmanuel Macron said on 20 July 2022.
If the world switched from an animal-based diet to a plant-based diet, we could get halfway to limiting global warming to 2 degrees Celsius and keep global emissions ‘paused’ for 30 years, new modelling suggests.

There will be a general election in Australia in May, which is the exclusive right of citizens. In an election campaign, the voices of the parties are always heard. While embodying freedom and democracy, many people ignore the wailing of animals. They only have one request, “Please don’t kill me”. This is the most basic right and their only voice, but they are deprived of it by humans.
