What an incredible time we had at our Simply V Cooking Class this June! Held in collaboration with VCAI, this special event brought food lovers together to master two gorgeous, plant-based dishes that prove vegetarian cooking can be both an art form and a comforting daily ritual.

Our participants rolled up their sleeves and learned how to make restaurant-quality dim sum and flavourful stir-fries from scratch.

On the Menu: Texture and Flavour

  • Crystal Dumplings with Celery & Egg: These stunning, crystal-clear parcels are as beautiful to look at as they are to eat. Participants mastered the delicate, chewy wheat starch wrapper, stuffing them with a vibrant, savoury filling of celery, sweet carrot, and fluffy scrambled eggs. Seasoned lightly with ginger, white pepper, and mushroom seasoning, these ovo-vegetarian delights are a true showstopper.
  • Stir-Fried Glass Noodles: Made from mung bean starch, these translucent noodles perfectly absorb seasoned liquids while keeping a firm, springy bite. We tossed them in a single pan with shredded vegetarian ham, earthy shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and crisp bok choy for a quick, adaptable, and deeply satisfying meal.

A Recipe for Life: Finding Your Calm

If you watch the highlight video until the very end, you will find a quiet moment of reflection.

We often spend our lives trying to make our external world as flat and still as a sheet of glass. We try to silence the noise and control our environment. But life is unpredictable, loud, and powerful, much like a waterfall.

True resilience is not about finding a perfectly silent, fragile lake. It is about being like the bird perched on a mossy rock right at the edge of the abyss, utterly unbothered by the maelstrom raging inches away. Cooking can be that anchor for us, a way to find our internal calm and focus, no matter how fast the world is moving around us.
